CP27: Specialty of crops produced in the NOcsPS cropping system from the consumer perspective

In a nutshell

What?

We are investigating how special crops cultivated without synthetic chemical pesticides (i.e., special crops from the NOcsPS cultivation system) are evaluated from the consumer's perspective.

Why?

The NOcsPS cultivation system could provide advantages over established farming systems, particularly for the cultivation of specialty crops. In this context, insights into consumer acceptance of specialty crops from this cultivation system are also crucial.

How?

The consumer's perspective on the relevant aspects will be studied using surveys.

Research to date shows that the NOcsPS system could offer multiple advantages, particularly in the cultivation of special crops. However, few studies are available that shed light on the consumers’ view of the cultivation of special crops in relation to the use of synthetic chemical pesticides.

The aim of the work package is to investigate the consumers’ view of the cultivation of special crops when synthetic chemical pesticides are not used. It is also of interest how consumers evaluate the products produced under NOcsPS conditions.

After a comprehensive literature research, an online survey with consumers will be conducted. With regard to special crops produced without synthetic chemical pesticides, for example, consumer attitudes are recorded. The study aims to provide insights into the consumer perspective on special crops from the NOcsPS cultivation system.
