NOcsPS Phase 1 (2019-2024)

Considerations at the European and national policy levels to adapt the agri-environmental framework conditions—with the aim of significantly reducing the use of chemical-synthetic plant protection products in the future—have led to the vision of a modern agricultural system. This system is intended to operate without chemical-synthetic plant protection products (PPPs) while still making use of the yield benefits of a targeted and responsible use of mineral fertilizers. The goal is to develop a cropping system that ensures a high level of food supply with healthy products while also addressing key aspects such as biodiversity promotion, soil fertility, ecosystem resilience, and climate protection.

NOcsPS Phase 2 (since 2025)

In a second funding phase, we pursue the vision of identifying the conditions under which NOcsPS cropping systems can be particularly sustainable and marketable compared to other systems. This is carried out in collaboration with the established project partners—University of Hohenheim, University of Göttingen, and the Julius Kühn Institute—as well as additional practice-oriented partners who are crucial for the transformation process.
