Exchange between practice and research – Visit by farmers from EZG Hohenloher Höfe w.V. to the University of Hohenheim

On July 4, we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of farmers from the EZG Hohenloher Höfe w.V. to the University of Hohenheim. As part of their day trip, we had the opportunity to present our field trials for the NOcsPS joint project (More Sustainable Agriculture 4.0 Without Synthetic Chemical Pesticides) and to explain the findings we have gathered so far.
The open exchange with the participants was particularly valuable. Together, we discussed the opportunities and challenges of NOcsPS—the agricultural cultivation system that does not use synthetic chemical pesticides but does use mineral fertilizers—and brought together various perspectives from science and agricultural practice.
The focus was on important future topics such as:
- Resilience of agricultural systems
- Biodiversity
- Sustainability
- The balance between yield and product quality
- Processing channels and the importance of regional value creation
Discussions like these demonstrate once again how important direct dialogue between research and practice is.
